You Were Created for…NOW!

“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.” ~Esther 4:14

YOU WERE CREATED FOR NOW!

Recently, I was asked by a fellow entrepreneur what value do I feel that I am adding as an entrepreneur. I paused. Reflected.  Then I told her the truth.

“I don’t really see myself as an entrepreneur. I’m not offering a product or service.”

Then she reminded me that my blog IS my product to the world.  And she was right.  All of my life, I grew up with the hopes of inspiring and empowering others.  I’ve prayed for a platform where God can use my many life struggles to help someone else out there who may be going through a few of their own.  And then once he had given me this platform (i.e. my blog), I became scared and started doubting what he created me for.

He created me for NOW.

He created me for such a time as this.

God has equipped me with everything that I need to be able to empower and inspire you all.  And while I don’t know everything, I know that he has brought me into this position for such a time as this.

And he is doing the same for you!

Are you second-guessing where God is taking you? Perhaps he’s pushing you out of your comfort zone? He may be pushing you to quit your job and go into business for yourself full-time, start your not-for-profit organization, join a ministry, or even to leave a bad relationship in preparation for a new relationship. No matter what it is, trust in God’s process and trust that HE has created you for such a time as this!!!

There is GOoD in Every Day

I was talking to someone the other day about celebrating their upcoming birthday.  They responded, “it’s just another day. Anything that I can do on this day, I can do on any day.” But  a birthday is not JUST another day. It is ANOTHER BLESSING.

In fact, any day that we are all so fortunate enough to see and breathe life again here on this Earth should be considered another blessing.  And we should learn to appreciate and celebrate those blessings. No, I’m not saying that we need to have a big party to celebrate each day as though it is our birthday. However, I am saying that we ought to take time to reflect and give reverence to God, thanking him for life.

I mean, in this last month along, we have heard all of the following incidents:

And that doesn’t even include all of the things that occur in our neighborhoods that often don’t make it to mainstream media.  In this same past week, I, too, found myself almost in a severe car accident.  Fortunately, I was alert enough to swerve from other cars and drive onto the median.  I was blessed that I didn’t hit anyone or anything while trying to avoid getting into a wreck.

I was BLESSED.

And so are you.  There’s a quote that says, “every day may not be good but there is good in every day”.  Now I want you to re-read that quote.

Every day may not be good, but there IS GOoD in every day.”

Each day that you wake up, you ought to find something positive to thank God for.  Stop sitting around saying today is just going to be another regular day because there are thousands of people who were not privileged to see this day.  Stop taking your blessings for granted and learn to appreciate them.

Today, I am thankful for my life, my health, my loved ones and that God is continuing to grow me in my purpose.  What are you thankful for on this blessed day?

When Life Gives You Lemons

Man, life loves to throw you lemons!

Over the past year, my health has seen some major changes, even resulting in me having to have surgery this past November.  Just when I thought everything would be fine and I would finally get “good” news, I visit my doctor and just more news. More news and more procedures to follow.

What was my first reaction? To cry. I called my best friend and cried my little heart out. 2016 was probably one of the most toughest years of my life. I just wanted and needed a break.  I’m not a perfect Christian but I’m far from the worst Christian.  And I strive to daily live a life pleasing to God. Do I mess up? All the time. But I pick myself up and continue to press forward.

So why is this all happening to me…AGAIN? Why me, Lord?  This just isn’t fair. I don’t deserve this.18e6d1400db4cf2871858bace89ca3a3

After crying for what seemed like eternity, I took a long, deep breath and had to speak some positivity into my situation.  (You see, sometimes, when we face things, we have to face them alone. That is why it is imperative for us to know God for ourselves so that we can speak positivity when the devil tries to bring us down.)  Remembering all that I’ve learned over the years, I began to speak life into my situation:

I’m not a perfect Christian but I’m far from the worst Christian.

-Psalm 1:6 says: “For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.”  Therefore, I don’t need to worry about anyone but myself.  As long as I maintain my righteousness, that’s all that matters and God will continue to cover me just as he’s always done.

-Matthew 7:1: “Judge not that ye be not judged”.  Who am I anyway to determine what is perfect vs what is worst?  I shouldn’t put labels on people as Christians because in essence that is a symbol of my judgment of others.

Why is this happening to me…AGAIN? But why me Lord?

-Philippians 4:13: “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.”

-1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all of your anxiety onto him because he cares for you.”

All I need to do is cast this entire, heavy burden on the Lord and allow HIS strength to see me through.

This just isn’t fair. I don’t deserve all of this.

-James 1:2-4: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

-2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed.”

I can’t give up. It may not seem fair but I will overcome this as long as I continue to persevere!

Maybe you can relate to how I felt above. It may seem like in life, things are just constantly going downhill and you want to ask yourself the same questions that I asked myself.  But know that we serve a GOD who is both able AND capable of doing exceeding, abundantly more than we can ask or think.  We MUST take comfort knowing that he’s pulled us through before and he’ll pull us through again.  He’s done it for me and I know he will do it for you too!

I hope that this encourages you as it is continuing to encourage me.

Stay blessed loves!

Hello Spring!

Hey Loves and Happy First Day of Spring!

There’s a song that says:

It’s a new season, it’s a new day
A fresh anointing is flowing my way
It’s a season of power and prosperity
It’s a new season coming to me.

I LOVE that song by Israel Houghton.  And what better way to walk into the first day of Spring, knowing that God is bringing us into a new season full of new mercies and a fresh anointing.

We all know that not everyone or everything gets to travel into all seasons of life with us. In fact, that’s exactly what Spring Cleaning is all about – getting rid of those things/people that clutter up our lives.  Whether it’s old friends who are only bringing negativity into your life, a career that you know it not in line with your purpose, a relationship that you KNOW isn’t good or healthy for you, or just things around your house that you don’t need anymore (like all those clothes and shoes in your closet ladies – speaking to myself here too haha). Whatever it may be, it is important to know that in order for us to make room for the new things and people God will bless us with in this season, we have to spring clean our lives! It is time for new beginnings!!!

Out with the old, in with the new!!!

Be on the lookout for my Spring Cleaning mini-series blog posts to come in April that will teach you a few tips/tricks on how to Spring Clean your mind, body, spirit and of course your house! And as always, I hope you all have a bright and prosperous Spring 2017 full of love, peace and souuulll!!! (Not sure why I felt like adding a Soul Train reference here haha – I’m just in a great mood this new season!)

Day 18: Be Thankful for Closed Doors

“When one door closes, another one opens. But sometimes we stare so hard at the closed door that we don’t see the opportunity in front of us.” ~Everyone

So let’s get real. You may find that when you start to demand the respect that’s associated with your value, some people may leave out of your life. And like I stated in one of the previous posts, if a person leaves you for something as wanting to be valued then that person wasn’t meant for you anyway.

So stop looking so long at the closed door that you don’t see the bright future of endless opportunities ahead. One of my favorite stories in the bible is about Lot’s wife. I’ll give you my quick #TylerPerry #Madea version of events – Jesus said leave, chick-a-dee said cool but then started having second thoughts and stuff so she started missing all that she was about to leave behind. She turned around to look at the closed door and Jesus was like BAM…pillar of salt!

Haha. I wrote that jokingly but those were the facts in the Bible. Do you even know what it means when Jesus closes a door for you? It literally means that Jesus finds you SO WORTHY that he doesn’t want you to waste your time, energy, and efforts on something that cannot be attached to your value. Your net worth to him is too great. So to protect you, he shields you from some things. Can I get an amen for closed doors?! Know that you are too worthy to double-back and go with your ex. Keep pressing forward love knowing that great things lie ahead.

Day 16: You Deserve More

“Stop losing sleep over someone who isn’t losing sleep over you!” ~Videllia Davis

And in case you didn’t get it, I’ll repeat it. Stop losing sleep over someone who isn’t losing sleep over you! You deserve more so save those tears.

I shared that quote on December 30, 2016 to my Instagram page. I was sitting at home reflecting on 2016 with all of its successes, triumphs, mistakes and tribulations. One mistake was that I had exerted too much energy on a man who seemingly showed no interest in me. He’d hit me up occasionally and claim interest but it never went beyond that. I’m sure my friends were tired of me mentioning his name. One of my friends even went so far as to say, “V” we don’t even need to mention his name anymore because he’s no longer relevant (lol that girl is hilarious!).

But she was right! When you know your worth for yourself and are confident in the value that you bring to the table, you will stop settling for someone who can’t see the wonderfully amazing person that you are. You deserve so much better than inconsistency and him/her treating you like you don’t exist OR that your feelings don’t matter. In fact, you deserve more and that “more” is waiting for you just around the corner!

#KnowYourWorthChallenge: People often say that they feel so good after they have cried their heart out. The reason being is because when we cry our bodies release endorphins – our bodies own natural pain killers – thus making us feel better and helping alleviate the pain we feel. Well I want to help you find another way to cope with your pain. Another way we can release endorphins is through exercise or physical activity. In today’s challenge, I encourage you to put down that tissue and do something physical. Whether it’s a jog, walk, dance class, etc., know that you can AND will overcome this pain inside.
